Echoes Magical Music Festival would like to welcome The Evening Vixon 'Chelsea Miller' as our MC this year!

Performance schedule now available here

Of medieval, Celtic and Eastern inspiration, the repertory of the Skarazula group gathers parts involving with the sonorities of yesterday, seen by young people of today. For several years, the musicians of Skarazula have cultivated their interest for the old music and continue their research to discover the rich and attractive world of the medieval music. Skarazula has more than one instrument in its bag. These instruments with the exotic names, the majority made by the violin maker of the group, confer a great richness on their music. That it is a question of interpreting their own compositions or of revisiting traditional parts, the three musicians of Skarazula put at it same passion and the same talent.

Tony Turner

Tony Turner’s songs travel the back roads of life, visiting forgotten people and places, old friends and loved ones. Based in Ottawa, Tony is a mainstay of the capital’s roots scene as a performer, organizer, and supporter of fellow songwriters. His music reveals a respect for working folks, love of Canadian history, the power of community, and the beauty of nature. These themes blend together in an impressive repertoire of material, a songwriting award, and a debut CD, A Matter of Time, produced by Ian Tamblyn. A new collection of songs entitled will be released early in 2007.

Ben Cooper and Peter Voith are excited to announce the official launch of “Cooper and Voith,” a project which draws on more than 20 years of combined professional performance experience.

It’s not often that competitors become partners, but that’s exactly what has happened in the case of Ottawa's own Ben Cooper and Peter Voith. Ben and Peter first became aware of each other in 2004 when they captured the top two spots in a national songwriting competition.

Friendly musical rivals with respect for each other’s talents, both were involved at the time in bands of their own. By 2007, however, both Peter and Ben found themselves with fewer outside commitments, and decided the time was right to pursue a musical partnership. Sharing the stage together at Bluesfest that year confirmed their suspicion, and “Cooper and Voith” was born.

Bob Ardern

Bob's musical background started with piano lessons at age 7 and switched to guitar in his teens. The late 60's and early 70's were the golden age of folk music and Bob quickly found his niche. Amar Ghelani - Mapping the Streetlight Constellations

Living in the depths of the Himalayan jungle for four months, Amar discovered a culture and music that was both native and foreign to him at the same time. Growing up in Toronto and now living in Ottawa, the music of Hindustani classical was a world unknown to him prior to living and working in India. With foundations in a wide variety of Western styles, Amar merges this Eastern traditional instrument with music that is familiar yet distant to the Canadian ear. He's been playing around Ottawa for the past several months after completing his Bachelors degree in Social Work and hopes to spread his experience through sitar to a diverse crowd. When he is not playing music, Amar studys to become an Addictions Counsellor/Trauma Therapist and works at a shelter with Ottawa's homeless population.

Universal Habit

Universal Habit is quite simply an original rock band. The Ottawa based group has their own brand of alternative rock with a touch of blues that play host to soulful vocals, cathartic guitar riffs and heartfilled drums. They know what it takes to be successful: hard work and dedication, something that has allowed them to sell over 500 copies of their first album “The Dekcuf Sessions” and over 1000 copies of their next disc “The Way”.

Their success doesn't stop there. Universal Habit placed third at the Yamaha Battle of the Bands, which opened doors for bands such as Sum 41, Billy Talent and Three Days Grace. Universal Habit were first round winners at Supernova, played the Local Heros Stage at Super Ex, Big Money Shot and Battle of the Bands for movie promotion “Up Without A Paddle”. With successes like this you can be sure Universal Habit will make an impact in the music industry. They are not strangers to the media either. Radio stations such as Live 88.5, internet radio XFM, Live 365, iTunes and iSound have definitely helped by playing songs like, “Standing By Idly”, “Have My Doubts”, “Fly With You”, “I'm The Way”, “Repeat” and “Wasted Lies”. Having those songs present in the media has made a huge impact on their fanbase with new memebers joining all the time. Their presence can even be felt on Myspace with almost ten thousand plays and close to 2500 friends. Facebook pages and fanclubs have certainly increased their web presence as well.
